Marginal Fields Development
Background:
Marginal fields development refers to discoveries which have not been exploited for long, due to one or more of the following factors:
• Very small sizes of reserves/pool to the extent of not being economically viable
• Lack of infrastructure in the vicinity and profitable consumers
• Prohibitive development costs, fiscal levies and or technological constraints
The various cycles which affect our oil industry have emphasised the need for detailed control of expenditure for development and production of such small discoveries. However, should technical or economic conditions change, such fields may become commercial fields. Marginal fields have several parameters that affect them. This includes environmental concerns, political stability, access, remoteness and, of course, the price and price stability of the produced gas/liquids.
This course will describe parts of unconventional methods to develop the marginal fields and mainly focus on innovative methods and new technology in developing those marginal fields.
Objectives:
The objectives of Marginal Fields Development training are:
• Recognise production & reservoir characteristics of marginal fields.
• Recognize the unique production & reservoir characteristics that define marginal fields & differentiate them from larger, more developed oil & gas assets.
• Understand the Improved Recovery Methods
• Understand the appropriate application of IOR (Improved Oil Recovery) methods to enhance production & maximize the economic potential of marginal fields.
• Identify under-performing wells or field areas & recommend appropriate intervention
• Determine the “upside potential” of a field, distinguishing between incremental reserves & reserve acceleration
• Describe the unconventional methods of developing marginal fields
• Describe all new technologies applied on the marginal fields

Marginal Fields Development
Onshore Facilities Infrastructure, Design, Constructions & Operation Optimization
BACKGROUND: Onshore Facilities Infrastructure, Design, Constructions & Operation Optimization are one of the most complex systems among others. It requires team competent in fully integrated approaches starting from initial study, design planning, construction, startup operation and carry on to the post commissioning process. Ideally this includes post start-up review optimization and asset integrity management to…

Comprehensive PSC Accounting
BACKGROUND: The oil and gas industry operates within a highly complex and dynamic regulatory environment, significantly shaped by changes in Production Sharing Contracts (PSC) and legislative reforms. The shift from the traditional Cost Recovery model to the Gross Split scheme has introduced new challenges and opportunities in accounting practices, fiscal management, and operational strategies. Due…

Produced Water Management

Basic Process Safety for Operation Personnel
Background Industri proses seperti migas, petrokimia, pembangkit, dan manufaktur kimia memiliki potensi bahaya tinggi akibat penggunaan fluida berbahaya, tekanan dan temperatur tinggi, serta sistem operasi yang kompleks. Banyak kecelakaan besar di industri proses terjadi bukan hanya karena kegagalan peralatan, tetapi juga akibat kurangnya pemahaman personel operasi terhadap prinsip dasar process safety. Process safety berbeda dengan…

Rig and Equipment Selection
Background: Rig and equipment selection is a critical early decision in drilling planning that directly affects safety, operational efficiency, cost, and overall project success. Inappropriate rig selection can lead to operational limitations, excessive non-productive time (NPT), or increased HSE exposure. For example, lack of appropriate knowledge may wrongly select rig rental company during tender evaluation….
