Centrifugal Pump, Design, Operation, Maintenance & Troubleshoot
BACKGROUND:
This Centrifugal Pump, Design, Operation, Maintenance & Troubleshoot focuses on the hydraulic principles of centrifugal pumps, as well as the interaction between a pump and a pipeline. It covers a review of fluid mechanics, the modified Bernoulli equation applied to piping systems, the energy equation applied to pumps and piping systems, energy loss in a pipeline and in fittings. Class discussion also includes pump selection process, pump performance measurements, the specific speed-efficiency relationship, affinity laws, the effect of pipeline diameter on required pump size, and net positive suction head.
Participants will learn about operation, troubleshoot and more.
TRAINING OUTLINE:
1. Various types of pumps
- Centrifugal
- Positive displacement
- Various pump drivers/prime movers
2.Pump Basic construction
- Pump basic design based on ANSI & API-610
- Different type/construction of pumping installation
- Various configuration of pump operations
3.Understand the internal parts of pump
- Getting familiar with common pump parts
- Cross sectional view in 3D of various type of pumps
- Function of each pump parts
4. Pump Design & Operations
- Different pump application
- Safety precautions
- Preparation of startup/stop
- Calculating capacity, head, efficiency (basic formula)
- Pump curve
- Protection and auxiliary system
- Working with different types of fluid (water, oil, condensate, glycol, etc)
- Typical operation problems of various pump types.

- Pump Maintenance level description/explanation: do’s and dont’s.
- First maintenance level for various type of pumps
7.Case study on maintenance, failure and troubleshooting, question and answer of pump operation problem
- Discuss various case studies of operational & maintenance problem (trainees are encouraged to tell their experience).

Who Should Attend:
This course is tailored to people who have some pump knowledge and are seeking a deeper understanding of how centrifugal pumps work, and when and how to apply this knowledge. It benefits those who are involved in some facet of pump design or application, or those who are interested in pursuing a career in these areas. Participants should have a degree in engineering and some work-related experience with pumps or equivalent experience in the pump field.
