Flow Accelerated Corrosion
BACKGROUND:
Flow Accelerated Corrosion (FAC) is a critical issue in industrial systems where high-velocity fluids interact with metallic surfaces, leading to accelerated material degradation. Commonly found in power plants, oil and gas operations, and chemical processing facilities, FAC poses significant risks to system integrity, safety, and operational efficiency. Left unaddressed, FAC can result in costly repairs, unplanned shutdowns, and even catastrophic failures, emphasizing the need for a proactive approach in understanding and mitigating its impact.
This training program is designed to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of FAC, including its causes, mechanisms, detection methods, and mitigation strategies. By combining theoretical knowledge with practical insights, the program aims to enhance participants’ ability to identify FAC risks, implement preventive measures, and respond effectively to FAC-related issues, ensuring the long-term reliability and safety of their operational systems.
OBJECTIVES:
- Understand the fundamental principles and mechanisms of Flow Accelerated Corrosion.
- Identify the operational conditions and system designs prone to FAC.
- Recognize the signs and indicators of FAC during inspections and operations.
- Apply appropriate detection methods, including non-destructive testing (NDT) and monitoring technologies.
- Develop and implement mitigation strategies to reduce FAC risks, such as material selection, system design modifications, and chemical treatments.
- Enhance maintenance planning and decision-making to minimize FAC-related downtime and costs.
RECOMMENDED PARTICIPANTS:
- Engineers and technical personnel in power generation, oil and gas, and chemical processing industries.
- Maintenance and reliability engineers responsible for system integrity and safety.
- Inspection and quality assurance teams involved in corrosion monitoring and analysis.
- Supervisors and managers overseeing operations prone to FAC risks.

Flow Accelerated Corrosion
Process Hazard Analysis (PHA)
BACKGROUND: In industrial operations, particularly those involving hazardous processes, the identification, evaluation, and control of potential risks are critical to ensuring safety, environmental compliance, and operational continuity. Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) serves as a systematic approach to identifying hazards, analyzing potential consequences, and implementing measures to mitigate risks. As industrial processes become increasingly complex, the…

Gas & Diesel Engines Operation & Maintenance
BACKGROUND: Most facilities require some type of prime mover to supply mechanical power for pumping, electrical power generation, operation of heavy equipment, and to act as a backup electrical generator for emergency use during the loss of the normal power source. Although several types of prime movers are available (gasoline engines, steam and gas turbines),…

Operation Readiness, Hand Over & Assurance
BACKGROUND: Oil and gas facilities are among the most complex in the industry. Typically, these facilities are built by world-class EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) companies through subcontracting agreements. As a result, they must adhere to strict completion schedules. Consequently, effective collaboration among the Project, Commissioning, Operation Assurance, and Operation & Maintenance teams is essential….

Hazard & Operability Studies (HAZOPS) & Hazard Identification Study (HAZIDS)
BACKGROUND: HAZOP means hazard studies (HAZARD) & Operability. It is a systematic method of analysis of the operability parameters deviations using a specific vocabulary. The required documents in order to accomplish the study are the equipment sketches (PID, PFDs) and a process description. HAZID- is a utilized technique for the identification of the significant hazards…

Effective Maintenance Management
BACKGROUND: Effective Maintenance Management is a cornerstone of reliable and efficient operations in industrial settings. It ensures that equipment and systems operate at their optimal levels, minimizing unplanned downtime and extending asset life. Without a structured maintenance approach, organizations risk increased operational costs, production delays, and safety hazards, which can negatively impact overall business performance….
