BACKGROUND:
Genset atau generator set adalah suatu mesin atau perangkat yang terdiri dari pembangkit listrik (generator) dengan mesin penggerak yang disusun menjadi satu kesatuan untuk menghasilkan suatu tenaga listrik dengan besaran tertentu.
Alat ini biasa dipakai sebagai catu daya cadangan jika sumber listrik utama tidak berfungsi, walaupun kadang juga dipakai sebagai catu daya utama.
Karena fungsinya yang cukup kritis, maka genset harus selalu dalam kondisi yang ready to use baik itu operatornya, maupun alatnya itu sendiri.
OBJECTIVES:
- Memahami prinsip kerja dan teknologi genset untuk kebutuhan energi cadangan.
- Menguasai teknik operasional yang tepat untuk memastikan kinerja optimal genset.
- Mengetahui langkah-langkah perawatan rutin dan berkala untuk memperpanjang umur genset.
- Meningkatkan keterampilan dalam diagnosis dan penanganan masalah umum pada genset.
- Memahami prosedur keselamatan kerja saat mengoperasikan dan merawat genset.
- Mengetahui pemilihan genset yang sesuai berdasarkan kebutuhan operasional dan kapasitas daya.

- Teknisi Maintenance: Bertanggung jawab dalam perawatan dan perbaikan genset.
- Operator Genset: Mengoperasikan genset untuk kebutuhan operasional sehari-hari.
- Supervisor Teknik: Mengawasi operasional dan pemeliharaan genset di lingkungan kerja.
- Engineer Kelistrikan: Terlibat dalam desain dan instalasi sistem kelistrikan berbasis genset.
- Staf Manajemen Energi: Bertanggung jawab atas efisiensi penggunaan energi cadangan di perusahaan.
- Pengelola Gedung atau Fasilitas: Mengelola fasilitas yang memerlukan genset sebagai sumber daya listrik cadangan.

ABOUT THE COURSE LEADER:
Ali Mashar, M.Eng.Sc., IPU graduated from New South Wales University (UNSW) Sydney Australia. His core expertise is power and control or electrical engineering. He used to be Head of Energy Conversion Engineering of Politeknik ITB (POLBAN) and lecturer. He is also head of laboratory of energy engineering PEDC.
Ali Mashar has delivered in-house & public training classes since 2010 covering specific topics on electrical & control system, energy conservation. Companies where he shares his expertise are local & multinational companies such as: Indonesia Power, Pemda Papua, PT. Badak, Cogindo, Star Energi, Chevron, Freeport and some others.
Other than teaching he has done many real projects related to power generation and many energy audits.
