Distributed Control System (DCS) Operation Maintenance

BACKGROUND:

DCS (Distributed Control System) adalah suatu pengembangan sistem kontrol yang menggunakan komputer dan alat elektronik lainnya. Sistem ini dirancang agar dapat mengontrol loop system secara terpadu sehingga operator yang terlatih dapat mengoperasikannya dengan cepat dan mudah. Selain itu, DCS juga sangat cocok untuk digunakan dalam mengontrol proses atau peralatan di plant dengan skala menengah hingga besar.

Untuk mempermudah penggunaannya, DCS telah dilengkapi dengan tampilan grafik, seperti gambar analogi peralatan, serta perangkat lunak untuk konfigurasi kontrol. Bahkan, sistem ini dapat digunakan pada lebih dari satu workstation atau PC. Di samping itu, komunikasi antar perangkat dapat dilakukan melalui jaringan kabel maupun serat optik, yang memberikan fleksibilitas tambahan.

Namun demikian, mengingat kompleksitasnya, penguasaan yang baik terhadap sistem ini sangat diperlukan. Oleh sebab itu, training ini dirancang untuk memberikan pengetahuan yang memadai. Pelatihan ini akan disampaikan oleh seorang Doktor dan praktisi yang berkompeten di bidangnya, sehingga peserta tidak hanya memahami teori, tetapi juga penerapannya secara praktis.

ABOUT THE COURSE LEADER:

Prof. Endra Joelianto, Ir., Ph.D., SMIEEE, is a distinguished expert in control engineering, with extensive contributions in fields such as Hybrid Control Systems, Discrete Event Control Systems, Petri Nets Analysis and Application on PLC, Robust PID Controllers, Advanced Process Control, and Industrial Automation using PLC/DCS. He earned his first degree (Ir.) in Engineering Physics from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) in 1990 and completed his Ph.D. in Control Engineering at The Australian National University, Australia, in 2001.

Prof. Joelianto serves as the coordinator of Intelligent Control and Automation and is the founder of the PLC Research Group at the Laboratorium Instrumentasi dan Kontrol (LINK), Department of Engineering Physics, ITB. He also founded and directed the Schneider-OMRON PLC Training Center at Maranatha Christian University, Bandung, in collaboration with PT. Schneider Electric Indonesia, PT. OMRON Corporation Japan, and Invensys WONDERWARE. His leadership in industrial automation is further reflected in his role as the project leader for DIKNAS TPSDP Retooling Programs and other initiatives focusing on industrial control and automation using PLCs.

Throughout his career, Prof. Joelianto has participated in and conducted numerous professional training programs on PLC, DCS, and instrument calibration. These include advanced training with organizations such as Yokogawa Electric Corporation, Fieldbus Foundation Technology, and ASPEN Tech. Additionally, he has provided training and consultancy for major universities and industries, including leading companies in the petrochemical, cement, oil and gas, and power generation sectors. His contributions have significantly impacted organizations like PT. Pupuk Kalimantan Timur, PT. Semen Gresik, PERTAMINA, British Petroleum, and Indonesia Power-Paiton, among others.
