Remaining Life Assessment

BACKGROUND:

Remaining life assessment (RLA) is an attempt to measure, predict the remaining life of an equipment, ie. a boiler or other critical equipment in a plant. By knowing the remaining life of an equipment or part thereof, technicians can plan replacement or repair.

It is also very important aspect from safety, operation, and asset management anticipation, not only when to replace equipment and how to maintain optimum life of the same.

OBJECTIVES:

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the Principles of RLA
  2. Sources of Failure and Failure Mechanisms
  3. Understand the Procedures and Techniques of RLA using 3 (three) Evaluations: Analytical/Theoretical, Non-Destructive Tests (NDT) and Destructive Tests

COURSE OUTLINE:

  1. Principles of RLA
  2. Evaluation of Information from Failure Analysis and Damage Investigation
  3. Sources of Failure and Failure Mechanisms
  4. Determination of Material Characteristics: Strength, Hardness, Toughness, Creep, Fatigue, Corrosion, etc
  5. Procedures and Techniques of RLA using 3 (three) Evaluations: Analytical/Theoretical, Non-Destructive Tests (NDT) and Destructive Tests
  6. Selection of Critical Components by Direct Measurement on Operating Parameters and Data Bank
  7. Remaining Life Evaluation by Analytical/ Theoretical Method
  8. Remaining Life Evaluation by NDT Methods
  9. Remaining Life Evaluation by Destructive Tests Methods
  10. Case studies of the RLA Implementation on Various Industrial Components/Equipment

Flow Accelerated Corrosion

BACKGROUND: Flow Accelerated Corrosion (FAC) is a critical issue in industrial systems where high-velocity fluids interact with metallic surfaces, leading to accelerated material degradation. Commonly found in power plants, oil and gas operations, and chemical processing facilities, FAC poses significant risks to system integrity, safety, and operational efficiency. Left unaddressed, FAC can result in costly…
